Oscar Goodman Is Bringing His Showgirls To London To Christen BA's New Route
Have you heard of London's mayor Boris Johnson? He’s um, a buffoon character. Instead of neat politician hair, he has a woolly blond thatch, instead of saying bland politician things, he likes to weigh in with jokes that others sometimes take offence to, and instead of being a dull politician who nobody really cares about, Londoners either love him or hate him.
Boris likes to think he’s one of a kind, but he’s about to meet his match – Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman is crossing over the pond this month for the launch of British Airways’ direct London-Vegas flights on October 25.
Along with meeting Boris and, possibly, the Queen (he's working on that), he'll be guest of honour at an as yet top secret party.

The new route is a biggie, hence the fuss – up until now, Virgin Atlantic has had the monopoly on direct flights between the two cities, so BA pitching in should help drop prices down. In fact, just about every bus stop in London at the moment seems to have some kind of ad for incredible value Vegas packages (to those who don't appreciate the British fondness for your several-foot-long drinks, we apologise in advance).
The flights are pretty well timed: you leave Heathrow at 3.35pm and arrive at McCarran Airport at 6.25pm for a full night’s partying. Red eye return flights will leave at 9.20pm (so you should be able to pass straight out on the plane) and hit London at 2pm the following day.
Here’s hoping Mayor Goodman will berate BA for their recent “pay to choose your seat” fiasco. Here’s also hoping that he’ll invite Boris back on the inaugural flight with him. Vegas wouldn’t know what hit it.
