Tourists expect it for Vegas but the county commissioner says it poses serious hazards for drivers who may be looking at a girl work the pole rather than watching the road. We understand this. The CityCenter construction and all that crap on Harmon is dangerous enough as it is but also, the Strip is always full of traffic. It's not like all the cars are cruising down it at high speeds. Still, we can see how risky it is, especially in stop and go traffic.
Another concern is that the truck will be a distraction for tourists trying to cross the crowded streets. Yes, the throngs of tourists that attempt crossing the streets pose real hazards for drivers every day and a Stripper Mobile is just yet one more thing for pedestrians to look at, instead of paying attention to the street crossing signs. So we can understand these are legitimate safety concerns.
But since as of now, no one knows whether this type of advertising is illegal or not, the Stripper Mobile will continue to roll up and down the Strip.
Personally, we'd rather see real girls working the pole in a truck than the usual icky, heavily airbrushed photos on the backs of cabs and the cards of naked women that litter the streets. Maybe there's a way to keep the Stripper Mobile running. What about only for one hour from midnight to 1 am? Then you can park it in a parking lot for another hour or so. And maybe the girls could wear fancier costumes instead of old underwear? We think that could totally work. Make it more showgirl than stripper and it will get approved.
