On Saturday night, shortly after 7 p.m. the casino floor at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino served as the dance floor for more than 70 sunglass-clad dancers, plus hundreds more, who performed a choreographed dance stunt of epic, impromptu proportions.
For those of you not in the lingo know, a flash mob is when a large group of people get together in a public place, perform some kind of whackadoodle stunt and then quickly disperse. We guess Las Vegas shouldn’t have been all that surprised as there was an online head’s up here.
The pseudo “So You Think You Can Dance” sequence was directed by photographer/music video director, Justin Purser. The song picked for the Las Vegas Las Vegas’ first ever flash mob is called PHamous (with the “PH” paying homage to the hotel in which the event happened on the Las Vegas Strip, get it?).
It was produced solely for this event, and if the stars align, may be released for general public listening consumption.
Although hundreds of people participated in the flash mob (and even more cheered the mayhem on), notables included top YouTubers, Shaycarl from Shaytards, projblogsphere, THEkrismohfanz and many of their friends. As the action unfolded, the routine got more elaborate with a break dancer and scantily clad back up dancers joining the mix, until everyone in the casino was getting their groove on.
It’s kind like stepping into a music video sans makeup, hair, wardrobe or having to know any steps. We love it.
