The Mandarin Oriental Charges $30 to Park Your Car Overnight

If you didn't know, parking, even valet parking, is free at nearly every hotel on the Strip. Vdara in CityCenter has valet-only parking for guests but the service is rolled into the $15 resort fee which also includes internet access and use of the gym.

However, the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas charges $30 a night for overnight parking. Ugh. If this was New York or San Francisco, we would understand. $30 would even be considered a deal. But no one charges for valet parking on the Strip so why did Mandarin Oriental decide to do this? Especially when their rooms are upwards of $300 a night?

We'd much rather they charged a resort fee and rolled that in there like Vdara does. That way we also wouldn't have to shell out $18 for in-room internet access. Yes, it's one of the most expensive hotel WiFi charges we've seen in the U.S.

Still, the overnight parking fee upset us. So much so that we actually looked over the website carefully (using our own wireless card, not the in-room WiFi) and did not see any mention of a $30 parking fee anywhere. The welcome email also did not mention this fee. When we complained to the front desk, they were very apologetic and tried to help us out with the self-parking issue but ultimately, they just removed $15 off from our bill.

We know most folk fly into Vegas so the parking charge will not be a problem for them but if you do drive to Vegas to spend the night at Mandarin, your best option for avoiding the $30 fee is to self-park at Aria. But you'll have to walk a bit to get to the Mandarin Oriental so drop off your luggage first.

You could also self-park at Bellagio, take the CityCenter tram to The Crystals and then walk out to Mandarin. Or you could park next door at Monte Carlo. All of these options involves some extra walking so you could just splurge at Aria or Vdara for a nicer room and save yourself the hassle. But we must say, the rooms at the Mandarin are pretty spectacular.

    seriously?

"You could also self-park at Bellagio, take the CityCenter tram to The Crystals and then walk out to Mandarin."

That's pretty ghetto advice considering the clientele that stay at M.O. properties.

    Totally!

MO guests definitely wouldn't self-park their own cars, but I was trying to convey just how complicated it would be to self-park at MOLV if you wanted to. Hopefully, they will reconsider the valet charge. It's just not necessary at those room rates.

    No

You self park at Crystals and Mandarin is right there. This is the only way and the $30 charge will not last. Trump thought they could pull off a $19 overnight fee which lasted about 3 months.

    I hope it doesn't last!

Mandarin is just trying to be Mandarin, charging for things they do at all their places but that fee is unacceptable in Vegas.

How do you get from Crystals self-park to Mandarin? The only way I saw that was you would have to go through the Crystals and up to the pedestrian bridge to Mandarin. Then you have to go down the stairs or escalator and walk about 20 feet to Mandarin.

I don't think they let pedestrian across that giant driveway (which is exactly the same width as Park Avenue I heard)
