Inside The Vdara Hotel's Deluxe Suite
Here it is, what you've been waiting for: Vdara Hotel and Spa porn.
Yesterday we detailed the step-by-step process of checking into Vdara and now we follow it up with our video tour and some more in-room shots. The room we are in is the starting room category, a Deluxe Suite. The square footage is 582-sq. ft. with large windows taking up the entire side of the room. Too bad our view is of the back of the Bellagio.
When you walk in, you are essentially in the kitchenette which has a small dining table with two chairs, a microwave, stovetop and a mini-refrigerator that has minibar goods on one side and free space to store your own minibar goods on the other.
Beyond the kitchenette is a small seating area with a comfy sofa that pulls out to a queen-sized bed and an interesting media center. This dark wood column is planted in the middle of the room and has a giant flat-screen TV on both sides--one for folks laying in bed, one for folks sitting on the couch. Extending from the column is a desk with a sweet media hub to plug in all your gadgets.
The bathrooms are long and narrow but still fit a vast vanity sink, a good-sized shower and a large soaking tub with a handheld nozzle. The bath products are, much to our disappointment, Aveda which always leaves our hair and skin very dry.
We were put out by the fact that Vdara has a resort fee but this does include internet access which was slow last night but working fine this morning. (Bill Simmon's theory on porn jamming still stands.) It also includes two bottles of water in-suite, valet parking and access to the fitness center.
As for our sleep last night, we made good use of the blackout shades and things were quiet. We didn't hear the slamming doors and loud noise in the hallways that we often hear at other Strip hotels. However, we woke up this morning to dry heat and found that the heat was on in the room. This might have been the first time ever we actually made our hotel room colder instead of warmer. The other downer here is that the bed is big and soft but the sheets are too new and a little scratchy. Also, pea soup green comforters is not our signature color.
Bottom Line: We scored a special opening rate of $129 a night, plus the $15 resort fee and other taxes. We've still got loads more to check out at Vdara and we really cannot wait to compare it with Aria which opens on December 16th. For now, we're liking the upscale urban vibe that Vdara is giving off.
If it weren't the view of the Bellagio outside our window, we might think we were in a suite in an NYC hotel room. Not too bad.
