'Switch' It Up at Encore

The Las Vegas Strip has long been the place to go for dinner and a show. But if you don't have the patience for both, then save yourself some time at Encore’s Switch restaurant. This unique offering doesn’t have a traditional entertainment component—there are no dancing girls, no post-meal spectacle. No, here the restaurant is, itself, a stage.

Order an appetizer—sautéed Sonoma foie gras perhaps—and just about the time you’re plate is being cleared, the stirring music turns on, the walls rise, the ceiling opens up, and the ambiance of Switch, well … switches, to something entirely different.

Leave it to Steve Wynn to take dinner theatre up a notch.

For Switch, he brought in chef Marc Poidevin, formerly the executive chef of Bellagio’s Le Cirque, and Wynn’s executive chef of catering and special events, to design a French steakhouse menu loaded with yummies like seared arctic char and lobster mac & cheese, and enticed his longtime design master, Roger Thomas, to go beyond his usual genius.

Thomas had a hand in everything from the design of the impossibly massive chandeliers to the handpicking of the dinnerware, to the hand-tooling of the yards and yards—and yards—of lush draperies.

There are three scenes in all; stick around for an hour (they change every 20 minutes) for a meal, and a show, you won’t soon forget.

Dinner is served nightly from 5:30pm to 10pm at Switch. Casual Business Attire is requested.
