Vegas CityCenter Comeback Attempt: Mid-May Photo Update

May 15, 2009 at 2:22 PM | by markj | 2 Comments

MGM's beleagured CityCenter is looking to open this Fall. Despite the economy, despite whatever is going on with Dubai World, Vegas will not sleep until CityCenter opens at the height of the 2009 convention season. Everyone loves a comeback and no one loves hosting a comeback act like Vegas (at one time Wynn was even rumored to be flirting with Michael Jackson -- about putting on a show.

So if the stars align just right for the Autumnal Equinox, CityCenter might just be Vegas's biggest comeback yet. Then again, if conditions don't improve CityCenter might be very very empty.

Either way, we figured since the crew is out on these triple digit degree days, we might as well start chronicling the final push towards CityCenter open.

With that in mind, these photos are your first live look of how things stand in mid-May 2009. We will check back in a month or so.

    the luxe mall needs work!

the mall is that thing that's still under major construction in the front of the first pic. it's going to be called crystals and it was supposed to have only super-luxe stores in there. i wonder if those tenants will change as it nears opening. also, what's the tall building? Vdara or Aria?

    Not City Center

These Pics are of the Cosmopolitan (slated to be a Denizen), not of City Center. Cosmo is adjacent to City Center....
