Barneys New York at the Palazzo May Be Closing

Christian Louboutin shoes at Barneys New York in the Palazzo.
One of our favorite experiences inside The Shoppes at the Palazzo is the Barneys New York department store which is reportedly bigger than the original flagship store in New York and features floor after floor of beautiful, expensive clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics. Sadly, it might be closing.
The Wall Street Journal today reported that Barneys is seeking to close two stores in an effort to "conserve cash amid a sharp decline in spending among the wealthiest Americans." One of these stores is the Barneys New York in The Palazzo. A real estate analyst told the Journal that the "strange" layout of the Palazzo is to blame. But we beg to differ. If you're a serious shopper and a fan of Barneys, you will have no problem finding it, whatever it takes! Also, how can you miss it? It's ginormous.
That said, there is some confusion that happens when riding up the escalators to the Palazzo shops, especially if you're coming in from the casino area. We always forget which direction Barneys is located in and we usually have to do lap on the mall's second floor to get to the other boutiques we like. Still, the loss of Barneys makes us sad. On the bright side, maybe they will have even better sale prices?
