Star Trek at Neonopolis Won't Open Until 2010

Star Trek fans who used to love old Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton got all excited when it was announced that the Experience would be returning to Las Vegas at the Neonopolis, a shopping center/mall located near the Fremont Street Experience.

The goal was to have the Experience re-open in conjunction with the new Star Trek movie which opens on Friday. But like many things at the troubled Neonopolis, it ain't happening.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the Experience won't open until 2010. Considering that the Neonopolis has been an extreme failure in terms of becoming a destination attraction--despite its three miles of neon lights that wrap around the building--this is not such a surprise.

But even more depressing is that Neonopolis also announced it would be closing its Galaxy 11 theater for "renovations." And guess when it's supposed to close? Friday. The day Star Trek comes out. FAIL.
