For a Touch of 'Academic' Vegas, Visit The Gambler's Book Shop

One of the endearing pleasures of living in Las Vegas is that there always a store in town that caters to the city’s main attractions. And no, we are not talking about the tacky street vendors who sell cheesy t-shirts that fall apart in the wash or sell Elvis beer mugs. Instead, we are recommending one of the city’s great finds - the Gambler’s Book Shop.
Established in 1964, the bookstore just moved to a new location on Tropicana Avenue but it's still within a five minute drive of The Strip and it's still selling the same great books. The store offers material on every conceivable aspect of gaming, not just the table games you would come across in the casino.
Of course those usual suspects are covered - baccarat, poker, blackjack and craps, and instructions for video poker and keno, but they do not stop there. Even general games like gin rummy and cribbage, how to analyze a sports betting book for racetracks, and books for betting on organized professional sports are also available.
Truth be told, everyone, from the casual tourist to the serious high roller can get something out of this bookstore and that's because there's an amazing level of research detail and analysis that goes into a majority of the books, computer software and DVDs that are in stock. Best of all, the staff is excellent and leave no proverbial gaming chip unturned to find what you need. Be sure to check out their website, which offers a complete inventory of their store.
Gambler's Book Shop is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday-Saturday and is closed on Sundays.
