There's No Place Like Planet Hollywood (For Fashionistas This Week)

In honor of the 70th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz," Planet Hollywood is hosting a free exhibition of Oz-inspired art and fashion on its Mezz level through Thursday.

Dubbed "The Ruby Slipper Collection" and "Inspirations of Oz Fine Art Exhibition", the displays includes ruby slippers designed by the likes of Christian Louboutin, Betsey Johnson (above), Alberta Ferretti, Gwen Stefani, Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik, as well as paintings, drawings and sculpture by 15 different artists.

The collections debuted last September at the opening of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC, and are traveling around until the big Warner Brothers Oz gala this fall. All of the shoes in the Ruby Slippers Collection will be auctioned off this coming September, with proceeds benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

No surprise here, but we like the “Ruby Slipper” drink recipe that came along with our invitation to the Oz exhibition: whiskey and grenadine in a shot glass, dropped in a glass of 7-Up and then down the hatch! Sounds like a few of those syrupy concoctions and you’ll feel like you’re on your way to Munchkinland yourself.
