Blackjack Card Counting, There's An App For That

June 9, 2009 at 4:32 PM | by juliana | 2 Comments

Admit it. When you read Bringing Down The House (or watched the movie version, 21) you were extremely jealous of those brainiac card-counting college kids who won big at blackjack tables in casinos across the United States. Well, don't be jealous anymore. There's an app for that.

The Blackjack Card Counter application for the iPhone and the iPod Touch does the card counting for you.

The application keeps a running count and true count of the cards. You can choose from the HiLo method, the Hi-Opt-I method, Hi-Opt-II method or the Omega II method. You can learn more about these card-counting methods here.

The $4.99 application even has a Count Vibrate feature which will cause your phone or iPod to vibrate when it reaches the true count reaches the value you specify. You can also put the app into Stealth Mode which allows the screen to go black so no one can see what you are doing. You can still push the buttons as normal; you just need to remember where they are.

But we must tell you: card-counting is not illegal in Nevada. However, using an electronic device to help you card-count, such as this application, is extremely illegal. Like it's a felony, illegal. Also, since this application went on the market, the Nevada Gaming Control Board has sent a message out to all casinos about its existence. So seriously, only use it in your hotel room when practicing before you hit the tables.

    Earn you some hard time

There are plenty of ways to get arrested on your next vacation to Vegas, and now you can add using a Blackjack card counting app on your i-Phone to the list. It turns out, while card counting isn't illegal under Nevada gambling laws, using a device to help you count cards is considered a felony in the state and could earn you some hard time. free casino bonuses
