Last Minute Hotel Rates at The Venetian

We're sure many of you plan out your Vegas trips way in advance but we've always gotta leave room for the folks who decide on a whim to head out to Sin City in search of luck, love, money and good times. Every so often, we'll check in on last minute rates at hotels in town and see how much they are going for--whether you phone in a rezzie, book it online through the hotel or hit up another travel booking site.

Today, after seeing just how sexy Tao Beach is, we're scoping out The Venetian.

Hotel Website: The hotel's website showed a Venetian luxury suite with a king bed for $269 for both tonight and tomorrow night. All in, with taxes: $602.56. Dayum!

Reservations Line: After an elaborate description of the everything in the Venetian's luxury suite, the reservations agent told us that Strip View rooms were going for $329 while non-Strip View rooms were at $269. Guests would also get a plethora of resort credits upon checking including and coupons for nearly everything on site at the Venetian and The Palazzo. There was no mention of these perks on the Venetian website but sometimes when you check in you are presented with the coupons anyways.

Another Travel Site: Again, we checked in with Expedia and they showed $259 for Friday night and $279 for Saturday night. So there's no difference between this and the hotel's website. Except, the hotel might appreciate it more if you booked through them!

However, we did also look on Hotwire and a 5-star hotel on The Central Strip with all the amenities believed to be at the Venetian (thanks to our cross-research on BetterBidding.com is going for $203 a night. This is however, set in stone. There is no cancelling and no refunds allowed if you decide not to stay here. Oh, and you might not be at the Venetian. You could be at the Wynn, Encore or the Palazzo.

Bottom Line: In this case, you could go either way. The Hotwire route will definitely get you the better deal, even though your reservation is completely unchangeable. We liked talking with the reservations agent who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. And there is a chance you might not get all the perks she mentioned if you book online. But it's up to you. Booking online is fast and easy and require no human interaction.
