Last Minute Hotel Rates at Planet Hollywood

July 24, 2009 at 6:50 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

We're sure many of you plan out your Vegas trips way in advance but we've always gotta leave room for the folks who decide on a whim to head out to Sin City in search of luck, love, money and good times. Every so often, we'll check in on last minute rates at hotels in town and see how much they are going for--whether you phone in a rezzie, book it online through the hotel or hit up another travel booking site.

Today, we were curious just how much rooms would be at Planet Hollywood, especially since this is the last weekend to party at Prive.

Hotel Website: The hotel's website showed a Hollywood Hip room, the hotel's standard room, for $259 Friday night and $209 Saturday night for a total of $524.16. That doesn't include the $4.99 daily resort charge and the tax on that. There is no mention when booking that you are getting the that Drinks Are On Us promotion which gives you one bottle of alcohol per stay (provided you are over 21 of course!) However, we thinks in light of the $500,000 fine that PH had to pony up for the Prive violations (which included overserved patrons) this deal might be going away soon.

Reservations Line: Can we just say we love talking to reservations agents? Especially in Vegas. They are so helpful, seriously. They always do a great job of describing the rooms for us too. Anyhoo, we were given the exact same rates above on the website and when we inquired about the "Drinks on Us" package, the reservations agent said that it did come with our room.

We were also told that we would receive the "Bed and Breakfast" package as well. That includes two for 1 breakfast at Spice Market Buffet, $10 in slot play and spa discounts. This never would have happened if we booked online (unless it's something presented to us at check-in) so calling the hotel's reservations line at 1-866-517-3263 would be smart.

Another Travel Site: Expedia showed no availability for Friday night and only Saturday night for $209. That's for a Hollywood Hip with that Drinks Are on Us promotion. Hotels.com did not have any rooms at all. Travelocity, whose Roaming Gnome just married PH Peepshow star Holly Madison, showed AAA rates at $233.10 a night which did include the the Drinks Are on Us deal (You need to show your AAA card at check-in.) Non-AAA rates were $259 per night, more than the hotel was offering. And the Bed and Breakfast package would cost you $299 a night.

You could also always look on Hotwire (that's how we scored a killer room at PH last month) but we're not sure what sort of perks you will get with your room. We're not even sure you can guarantee that your selection will be Planet Hollywood. (Remember, with Hotwire there are ways to narrow down the possible hotels to two or three but you don't know for sure until after you book.)

Bottom Line: Call the reservations line. The rates are the same as online but our guy was willing to throw in the Bed and Breakfast package too. Of course, rates can always change and not every reservations agent will sweeten the deal. Yet it never hurts to ask.
