UPDATE: A hotel rep tells us, "The Tower officially opens July 30th but travelers are currently staying there and able to book rooms now." If you're on the Hard Rock property this week, try and book one of the new rooms!

The new Paradise Tower at the Hard Rock Hotel will be opening this weekend, about a week ahead of schedule. The new tower's opening date has always been listed as August 2009 but it looks like starting on Friday night guests will be checking out the new rooms (about 490 of them) for the first time.

We'll be getting some more detes on the new tower in a bit but we just wanted to hit you up with the rate information first. A mountain view king room at the Paradise Tower was open but only for Friday night at $309 a night. Saturday night was sold-out. Sunday night, however, dipped down to $165. A pool view king was going for a hefty $399 a night on Friday.

Rooms in the new Paradise Tower are tricked out with the usual modern hotel amenities like iPod docking stations, 42" plasma TVs, Bose CD stereos, minibars and wireless internet (for a fee of course.) And the look of the new rooms is more "rock and roll" than the Hard Rock's ever looked before. Except we think that's a faux fur blanket on the bed. Eeee.

We've seen quite a few of these blankets in new boutique hotels over at HotelChatter (SLS Hotel and The Hollywood Roosevelt are two that come to mind) and they always give us the heebie jeebies. Then again, with the notoriously frosty AC in hotel rooms, these blankets could come in handy.

The new Zeff Design tower will also have 10 pool suites and an Entourage-inspired penthouse suite. (Entourage-inspired anything must be the latest hotel trend as the W South Beach just opened their own Entourage cabana.) But the Hard Rock expansion plans don't end here. A 15-storey all-suite tower, The Harmon Tower, will open in December. Yay, just in time to compete with CityCenter.

Anyone planning on shacking up at the new Paradise Tower this weekend? Let us know how your stay went!
