Not only is the musicianship first rate (given that the band have been honing their craft for over ten years, that should be the case), but the look, complete with eyeliner, huge heels, glitter and spandex, are detailed to the times. Finally, the dance moves by Tanner cannot be ignored. Do you feel like arguing? You try to dance in those heels.
Ultimately, we have to pay some lip service to the crowd. Whether young kids who are curious to revisit a long ago era, or the 40-somethings reliving some fond memories from high school, there is something about a good groove that bridges the generation gap and makes everyone share the fun on the dance floor.
And while some purists may balk that some hits might be missing from the set, need we remind them that Prince in his 30 plus year career has released over 60 singles, and that you only cover so much? So take what you can get, in this case you get something considerable - a great throwback to the ‘80s celebrating a great musician and his work.
Purple Reign is only for those 21 and older. Tickets are $10 a piece but only $5 for Vegas locals. The show goes off every Sunday at 9pm.
