Well, we have a response to that. We think it’s the fact that Davy’s has possibly the coolest attitude for all comers. As long as you keep buying the drinks and give ‘em no trouble, you are good with them. Granted, that could be the attitude of most good neighborhood pubs, but Davey’s makes you feel especially at home, with bartenders who will try to mix you something that they may not be well-versed in, just to please you; and intelligent barflies who will chat anything from literature to politics but in a way that is not meant to purposely offend.
We admit, their Manhattans are lacking some proper vermouth (we did tell you that this is not a high-end bar), it is small and their restrooms...well...could offer you more privacy. Yet as ale holes go, Davy’s Locker has a genial, offbeat vibe that is inviting as it is disarming. So enjoy it, because in the end, you have to love a bar that creates its own island aways from the rest.
