Today is the day that the Monte Carlo is to unveil their new boutique hotel within a hotel, Hotel32, which is found at the very top of the hotel on the--you guessed it--32nd floor.

We skulked around the MC yesterday trying to find any signs of life on this "exclusive" new experience which is to feature tricked-out rooms, a private entrance and an express elevator, among other things.

Here's what we found: In the lobby, a space to the very left of the check-in counters was closed off with dark black drapes and a sign in front said, "Exit Closed." We did a quick peek behind the curtain and saw that nothing was in there--no furniture or anything--but there was a Hotel32-esque framed print on the wall. (It looked like the rug pattern shown in the video on the hotel's website.)

Additionally, there was no signage anywhere else in the lobby about the new hotel rooms. And we couldn't see the express elevator either. However, inside the "regular folk" elevators, floor 32 requires a keycard to push the button but there was only a little "32" sign next to it. It didn't look like anything special.

Outside we did see the special entrance for Hotel32 guests at the back of the hotel, near the self-parking garage and there was still some construction equipment near by. It did not look very ready to welcome guests the next day.

On the website, guests can still make reservations for tonight at a whopping rate of $250. Um...it's Monday in Vegas and let's not forget this is still the Monte Carlo we're talking about. We also called a reservations agent just to be sure and after quite a few minutes of "hmmmm...huh...nuh-uh...hmmm" she told us they were supposed to open today but it didn't look like the rooms have come online. Then she said they are quoting rates and that means they should be open. Hmmm...huh...nuh-uh...hmmm.

We put in a call to MGM Mirage to see what exactly was up with these rooms. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you know what's going on here let us know.
