Almost Paradise: Inside the Hard Rock's Paradise Tower

Where: 4455 Paradise Rd [map], 89109

We recently spent a night at the new Paradise Tower at the Hard Rock Hotel and despite being in love with the newness of the rooms, the rest of the Hard Rock experience is still lacking--unless you're just there to get absolutely wrecked at Rehab, the raunchy Sunday pool party. Then you'll find yourself surrounded by plenty of people with the same plan.

We wrote about the stay over on HotelChatter and we'll recap some of the highlights for you here.

We braved the hotel's new tower the day after the festivities of Rehab, had ended, thus on a Monday. We managed to snag a room here for $99 a night which we booked on the hotel's website. However, there is a $7.00 resort fee which as far as we can tell does not include anything worthy although we'd like to think that it's for extensive pool clean-up.

We also got upgraded at check-in to a corner room, meaning we have views of the back of the Hard Rock (some construction and partial shots of the pool) and full-frontal views of the Strip. Hello, Planet Hollywood!* And we have to say the room decor, mostly black and grey with "rock star" touches, is probably the coolest in all of Vegas.

However, all is not well with this new side of the Hard Rock.

The check-in process is torturous if you happen to arrive before 3pm and there was a dirty bar of soap in our bathroom. And god forbid you should ever want to nap at 4pm. The club beats from the pool are constant. Fortunately, we didn't hear any noise from people partying in the rooms although that certainly was going on. Housekeeping was kind enough to leave clear plastic bags of garbage out in the hallways and we got a good look at the type of stuff people bring into their rooms at the Hard Rock--basically it's beer, vodka and redbull.

Lastly, this tower is still largely under construction at the ground level so look out for closed off sections and construction men lumbering around with tools and equipment.

What We Liked
The Paradise Tower rooms (even-numbered rooms face the pool area), our room views, free self-parking and having a Starbucks on-site.

What We Didn't Like
The terrible service, the construction still going on at the Paradise Tower, the music from the pool area, the dirty soap, the $7.00 resort fee, the $13.95 internet fee and the jacked-up prices of lattes at the Starbucks.

Bottom Line
If you want to party and be surrounded by like-minded people, come to the Hard Rock and book a Paradise Tower room, which we did at $99 a night. Otherwise, we say just come by to party but sleep elsewhere.

*For the record, the hotel does not know that we are affiliated with HotelChatter or VegasChatter and our upgrade was pure Paradise Tower virgin luck.
