It looks as if we'll have to sit tight until December, when MGM Mirage's CityCenter begins to open several of its long-awaited buildings--including the Vdara Hotel.

The Vdara initially announced their intention to open on October 1 while Aria and the Mandarin Oriental would follow suit in December. But we started hearing that they wouldn't be opening until December.

Sure enough, we went to the website and saw that reservations were now being taken starting December 1.

A deluxe suite was available on that date for $159 a night, plus the $15 resort fee. A deluxe pool view suite was $199 a night. Even more interesting are the rooms' respective price slashings. When we checked hotel rates back in July, rack rates started at $199 a night. Pool views were jacked up to $259 a night.

Our sources say that while Vdara was still on track to make the opening date, not everything would have been ready. So MGM Mirage decided to hold off on the opening until December, which means pretty much everything at CityCenter is opening in December, the Month of CityCenter Reckoning: the hotels, The Crystals, and the Elvis Cirque du Soleil Theater. Gird your Wintery loins.
