One of the reasons we like the rooms at The Venetian and The Palazzo is simply the space. These suites are huge, a total of 725-sq. ft. with a separate seating area and a large bathroom that features both a shower and a bathtub. Seriously, don't stay here alone. All the extra space will make you sad.
The rooms also feature some sweet amenities like remote-controlled Roman shades and three flat-screen TVs, one of which is in the bathroom.
The room decor, however, is a little odd. It's like something of a cross between Italianate and reluctantly modern, with a pinch of retro throw in. It's just strange. And mostly dark, which is a contrast to the light, airy and happy main lobby. Then again, dark colors hide stains rather well.
We shot this video just a few weeks ago and nothing major went wrong. When we stayed at the Palazzo in April 2008, they were still working out the room kinks, including securing the door handles to the cabinets and providing hot water. But this time, our only complaint was the ridiculously long hold time for room service at 10am on Monday morning.
While the rooms were fine, the internet connection was not. The Palazzo is like some sort of telecommunications vortex. Our AT&T phone calls were dropped constantly while we were in-room. We could not surf the web on our Blackberry or iPhone (yeah, we have both.) And our Verizon Wireless card worked at a pitifully slow pace. The hotel's in-room internet was not even that much faster. Plus it cost $9.95. Business travelers, beware.
So in short: P stands for Party at the Palazzo. W is for Work at the Wynn.
