Wynn's Bookmaker Sets Odds On Top Chef Las Vegas Contestants

By now itís no secret that the newest season of Top Chef was filmed in Las Vegas. We've been keeping track of rumored and confirmed locations for the past few months and we've just started doing re-caps of each episode. (Stay tuned for tomorrow's recap!)

But less well-known are the odds on the show hung weekly by Johnny Avello, executive director of race and sports operations at Wynn Las Vegas.

The fast-talking native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., runs the only sports book in all of Sin City that sets odds on entertainment. Though you canít actually bet money on any of the lines (the Nevada Gaming Control Board only allows books to take wagers on events played in sporting arenas), Avello's insights offer interesting indications of who are the favorites and who aremost likely to be asked to pack their knives and go.

Odds for the winner of tonightís show are as follows:

· Michael Voltaggio: 4/1
· Jennifer Carroll: 5/1
· Kevin Gillespie: 6/1
· Michael Isabella: 8/1
· Ron Duprat: 10/1
· Bryan Voltaggio: 12/1
· Mattin Nobila: 14/1
· Jesse Sandlin: 18/1
· Eli Kirshtein: 20/1
· Laurine Wickett: 22/1
· Hector Santiago: 24/1
· Preeti Mistry: 25/1
· Ash Fulk: 28/1
· Eve Aronoff: 30/1
· Ashley Merriman: 35/1
· Robin Leventhal: 40/1

Interestingly, Mistry and Aronoff have dropped considerably since the lines opened last week. The two contestants started at 6/1 and 5/1, respectively. But maybe that's because Mistry had no idea how to shuck clams in the first episode. Let's hope she's learned how for the sake of the folks back at Google. And poor Eve looked as if she would crumble when the judges assailed her poorly seasoned scallops dish. Hopefully, these gals can turn it around.
