The Swankiest Place To Grab a Cup of Coffee in Vegas

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], 89109

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the swankiest place to grab a cup of coffee is at Encore Las Vegas inside the hotel's Lobby Bar & Cafe. Located in front of the guest elevators the cafe is painted jewel-box red with those colorful mosaic tiles on the floor that you've seen over at the Wynn but set against a black background instead of a white one.

The goddess Daphne presides over the bar (indeed her statue greets you at the entrance) and you can order specialty plates that come with your own personal sculpture of Daphne. We were intrigued by the tomato and feta cheese skewers with basil pesto as well as the bacon and cheddar cheese croquettes and the old bay fried shrimp but we decided at $21 we didn't need a personal statue of Daphne to lug around the casino.

The tables are serviced by PYT waitresses in black skimpy outfits with deep red sparkles. The bar serves light fare like cheese plates, hummus plates, pub fries with ketchup, beef carpaccio and caviar. You know, just your standard cafe offerings. Prices range from $7 to $14, except the caviar which starts at $200. Pastries from famed patisserie chef Frederic Robert are also served.

The bar is a full-bar (this is Vegas of course) and should you want to come in for a cup of joe you best be flush from the tables. Regular (but premium) coffee is $4.00. Capuccinos and lattes start at $6.25.

Seating is available around the bar, at little cafe-sized tables and even swank sofas. Contemporary music for thirty-something year-olds plays overhead. We were able to find a table next to multiple outlets on the wall and spent the afternoon working from here. Sadly, there was a free wireless network that wasn't working. We made do with our Verizon wireless card.

The Lobby Bar and Cafe is open Monday through Thursday from 6am to 2am and Fridays and Saturdays from 6am to 4am.
