Cheapskates, Rejoice: Groupons Have Arrived In Vegas

Perfect - Groupon obviously heard it’s our birthday next month

It’s been four months since we first stumbled on Groupon – a website which offers daily deals on things like food, drink and the odd pole dancing class at huge discounts. Back then, it hadn’t yet launched in Vegas, and, not being the kind of people to drop full price on a pole sesh, we’ve been waiting ever since.

Finally, on Monday, the wait was over, and we quickly snapped up a $75 voucher to eat at Andre’s in the Monte Carlo. For $30.

The way Groupon works is simple. They get establishments to agree to whopping discounts on the basis that they’ll get lots of customers out of it. So a minimum number of people have to sign up to each deal before the game is on - basically group discounts, only without actually having to interact with the rest of the group. It sounds perfect.

It could be too good to be true, but we don’t think it is – the only rule for the Andre’s deal was that you could only use one voucher per table (unless there were more than five of you), you couldn’t use it on tax or gratuity, and each person’s spend had to be $35. But if there are two of you, you’re going to cover that with the $75 voucher, so it’s fine. And the voucher is valid for a year, so we can go whenever.

Yesterday’s voucher was a $30 pole-dancing class for $15, and today’s is a $15 Freed’s Bakery voucher for just $5. Sweet!

The best thing of all? There’s no limit to the places you can sign up for, so you can get offers for your home city (it covers 32 places) as well as Vegas, for when you’re coming down here. What’s not to love?

Used any Groupon vouchers yet? Tell us how it went below.
