If You Find A Room You Like, Should You Stay or Should You Go?
Is this as good as it gets?
So we have a techy friend over from London to attend CES. He’s been at the Venetian since Monday, then is down to switch to the Mirage on Friday. The Mirage was cheaper over the weekend, and he thought it would be cool to check out two different hotels.
Until, that is, he arrived at the Venetian, and sent us the following over-excited email:
I have the most amazing suite at the Venetian - gonna be a real come down on Friday when I move to a normal room at Mirage
He sent another one a couple of hours later, saying that actually, it wasn’t a suite – it was just so nice that it seemed like it. And he wondered whether he should just fork out the extra to stay on for the weekend, because the room at the Mirage couldn’t possibly be any nicer (the fact that some Adult Expo parties were taking place at Tao probably also played a part).
We told him to move on – he might like the Mirage room even more. But then we’re from the Sienna Miller school when it comes to hotels – sod longterm loyalty, it’s all about novelty and the hope that the next one could be The One.
But are we doing the right thing? When we hear other people checking in being greeted with the magic words “Welcome back to the hotel Mr Brown”, we sometimes wonder whether we’re underestimating the pleasures of hotel monogamy. But would that even work in the behemoth hotels of Vegas if you’re not a high roller?
Are you faithful to one hotel in Vegas or do you like to whore it around? Let us know your experiences down below.
