Video one: The Dining Habits of Josh Strickland Esq

Restaurant
Koi and Strip House, not only because they’re next door to Peepshow but also because they cook some of the best food he’s ever had. Koi has nice light sushi which is good before a performance, and he loves Strip House because both he and it are from New York. Try the mushrooms and Strip House steak. Re Koi, all we can say is, having seen it on Tasting Las Vegas' list of shame for serving bluefin tuna, we hope that doesn't cause a bust-up with noted animal rights activist, Ms Holly Madison. (In fact, there, Holly, is a campaign you should totally get involved with.)

If you were to drag him outside PH, he’d choose Serendipity (um, he totally added “where I first clapped eyes on VegasChatter” but we edited it out because we’re not vain, honest), as well as Lavo and Tao.

Clubs
Tryst and XS because they’re “outrageous and beautiful”. Hint to Tom Lowe - try going along with him, you might get treated better).

Bars
As a dive bar, he likes Double Down because it’s “trashy and fun”. Team Strickers-Madders’ fave drink? A shot of Ass Juice, which is “a mixture of alcohol that just gets you drunk”. It’s on our to do list now.

As a date place, he likes Mixx. The view is stunning and it’s romantic.

Favorite show
Strickers likes most of the Cirque shows because of the sheer variety, though he’d recommend O for first timers. Also, man has good taste because he’s also a fan of VegasChatter fave Vegas! The Show, which he calls “incredible” (we’re pretty sure he means Tom Lowe there). In his words, “It brings back the old school way of doing things which I think is pretty cool.”

Favorite hotel
PH for young vibe but Bellagio for beauty and a classic feel (although he would say that, having stayed in a penthouse there). He makes a mention of Steve Wynn’s line of beauty. Randomly it made us connect Wynn to Alan Hollingshurst, which made us chuckle.

Where to relax
He likes to sit on his porch, in his rocking chair (ahhh southern boys) with a cocktail. And should you be so inclined, he invites you to join him.

Off Strip
Red Rock Canyon is a side of Vegas that most people don’t get to see.

Least Vegassy place in Vegas
He’s not sure there is one, and that’s why he lives in Vegas, but Frankie’s Tiki Room is cool and kitschy - you don’t feel like you’re in Vegas when you’re in there.

Vegas secret
There’s more to Vegas than the Strip. Do as Strickland tells you - venture out, drive one mile off the Strip and you’ll see it’s a completely different place.

Hangover cure
Hair of the dog – you wake up, hungover, and have another cocktail. Either the same as you drank the night before or try a light beer.

Keeping cool
He turns up the AC, runs through the misters and visits every pool he can. Wet Republic is his favorite, as the cabanas are separated from the plebs craziness and the music’s good.

If he could have three celebs turn up to see his show, they would be…
Beyonce because he idolizes her, and Dolly Parton, because he would DIE if he saw her in the audience (to which we say – stay away, Dolly, stay away). As for the third, Dolly cleaned his mind right out, so he plumped for the tactful answer: “anybody who’d enjoy it for what it is, we’ll welcome you with open arms.” Anyway, Dolly counts for two celebs.

If he could turf one sin out of Sin City it would be…
Some of the strip clubs: “We’ve got quite a few and I don’t think it’d hurt if we lose a few of the trashy, full nude ones”. After all, we’ve always got the Stripper Mobile, right?

As for a sin to gain, he reckons Vegas has them all, and advises you lot to come see what’s on offer. The favorite sin of the Strickland? “Drinking all day and night.” Not really (he says glancing at the PR), he lives here so keeps it under control but he definitely likes to have his fun when it’s done.

Strickland can drink like an Englishman, we thoroughly approve. Next time we stalk him to see him at Serendipity, we’ll buy him an alcoholic Frrrozen hot choc. If he cracks us that smile, that is.
