Do You Love Burgers? Then Prepare to Love These Ones
Can there ever be too many burger joints in Vegas? Probably not, to be fair, which is probably why the latest one, i♥burgers will probably do rather well.
It’s opening at the Shoppes at the Palazzo, in the spot where Mainland used to be, in the second week of December according to our spies, and promises to be a “modern take on the classic American burger joint”.
So far so boring, but wait! This actually looks good. Variety is the key here – plenty of burgers (from boring beef to vegan burgers, tuna and buffalo) mixed with toppings (cheeses, meats and even organic poached eggs). Upmarket is also the buzzword – the Slawesome Burger will be topped with a slaw of red, green and Napa cabbages, tossed with a ginger and garlic dressing.
Most importantly, though it’s promising the “best fry menu ever ” (18 types strong) which for those of us who’ve never heard of such a thing as a fry menu is surely some kind of manna sent from up on high. (And London-style chips and truffle butter-tossed potatoes merely confirm that theory.)
Drinkswise, they’re promising a big selection of beers and cocktails including the i♥ bloody mary with pork crackling and bacon salt (if that’s not a throwing down of the gauntlet to Double Down and its bacon martini, we don’t know what is). Other cocktails will be “carbonating exotic fruits, popping corn and flipping pancakes in search of the perfect drink”. Heston Blumenthal, eat your heart out.
Our only issue: it’s not very social media-friendly, is it? We were wondering whether we call it I Heart Burgers or I Love Burgers when we saw that they’ve gone with ilvburgers.com, but to us, that sounds like I Live Burgers (which wouldn’t be so far off the truth anyways). It’s ok, and all, but it’s not exactly crying out for a hashtag.
But yeah, that aside, we’ll totally forgive them for subjecting our waistlines to yet another burger place. Kerry Simon better watch his back.
