Room Reaction: We were given a studio suite at the end of the hallway. The room seemed a little small for a place that is boasting suite accommodations. A mini-kitchenette does not a suite make. Nevertheless, we did like the floor to ceiling windows, the big bed and the red leather couch. (So long as housekeeping wipes it down after every guest stay.)
Amenity Madness: Nothing too out of the world here. There were buttons on the wall to control the blackout shades and a fancy technology system on the TV. The iPod dock was a bit pathetic, but quite easy to use. The kitchenette had an empty fridge (great for storing leftovers), a microwave, dishware, glass ware, a tiny sink and a lone chair. In the bath, we found Papillon toiletries. Meh.
Internet Connect: It's $9.95 a day where as Planet Hollywood charges $13.99 a day.
What We Liked: We really like the Planet Hollywood casino so it was great to stay close to this property. But you do have to walk through a mall (see below.) We also liked the lobby area of PH Towers which had a ton of natural light pouring in. It also overlooks the pool and we imagine there will be some amazing people-watching come summer.
Another perk? The fitness center was free. Totally free. We were shocked and then we made good use of it two days in a row. Additionally, this place is a time-share building but not once we were approached by timeshare vultures. Amazing!
What We Didn't Like: The rooms were just so-so. They weren't really inspiring at all and we really wished there was a proper desk instead of casting couch. If you want comparison, the new rooms at Aria are far nicer.
But most of all, walking through the Miracle Mile shops to get to Planet Hollywood started to wear us down a bit. Not even the prospect of having our photo super-imposed on a body builder's frame at Photo Magic or the 20-minute Teeth Whitening stand could cheer us up.
Bottom Line: We booked our room for $144 a night (not including fees and taxes) through Hotwire. The resort charges a $5 resort fee (plus tax) which includes two bottles of water in the room and phone calls.
We wouldn't mind staying here again at this rate but it would be better if we could get an actual one-bedroom suite. And maybe one of those motorized scooters to make it easier to get to PH.
PS. The place is called PH Towers because there are two towers expected to be built. Currently, only one has risen.
