A Guide to Las Vegas Super Bowl...Er...Super Game Parties

February 5, 2010 at 5:18 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Since the NFL is cracking down on the unlicensed use of the name "Super Bowl" as well as pay-for-showings of the Super Bowl, casinos, sportsbooks and restaurants on and off the Strip are getting creative with their Game Day parties.

VegasTripping has a good round-up of the action on Sunday as well as some betting tips and we've got even more party specifics for you to choose from.

A couple of hints: calling around and making reservations, is for some reason, difficult. We've been left on hold, given two different answers many times and also told abruptly that parties are either "sold-out" or "nothing is going on." Blech.

Our best advice at this point is to make a couple of reservations at restaurants or lounges that you know have flat-screen TVs (and pretty much, every place in Vegas does these days). This way you will not be stranded when kick-off happens. But don't put any money down or buy into a party ticket because then you are committed.

In the meantime, scope out the sportsbooks and bars near the sportsbook on Saturday or even early Sunday morning. The truth is, everyone will be showing this game in some way or form (but probably not in the spas) and it may just come down to whatever bar or sportsbook feels right at that time.

Yes, we know you may have to leave your urge to have your Vegas itinerary planned to a T on Super Bowl Sunday but so long as you do things early, you should be able to find a comfy seat somewhere to drink beer, eat wings, scope out the girls and oh yes, watch the game.

Bally's and Paris
These two connecting have hotels have teamed up for the Big Game. The Book at Bally's has stadium seating and is open on a first-come, first-serve basis. As is the deal with all sports books in Vegas, get there early to get a seat..

The Paris Bar du Sports “The Book” – Bally’s Race and Sports Book and Paris Bar du Sports is offering Big Game specials of $20 Miller buckets, $5 Absolut cocktails (or Absolut and Rockstar drinks for a dollar more), prize giveaways with your Miller buckets and a t-shirt with a $25 parlay card.

Bally's Indigo Lounge and Napolean's Lounge at Paris are both kicking off tailgate parties at 1pm for $65 per person. There will be tons of food, Miller beer, commemorative t-shirts and an appearance by a professional NFL player. Tickets can be bought at Paris and Bally's box offices.

Finally, a Le Burger Brasserie there will be a tailgate buffet starting at 1pm for $75 and includes what is going on at the other tailgates, including a NFL player appearance. Unlike the others, folks under 21 can eat here as well.

Mirage
The Mirage is having a big blowout party but it is also sold-out. However, it's Rhumbar is hosting a Super Tailgate Party" for a $100 per person that includes Stoli cocktails, Miller lite bottles and tailgate fare. Rhumbar is a small, narrow space but it has six big screen televisions out on the patio (hope it's a nice day on Sunday!) and two inside the cocktail lounge. Call 702-792-7615 to secure a spot.

Palazzo
The Super Party at Lagasse's Stadium has been sold-out for weeks and was really only for special VIP casino guests. The other bars at the property will all be showing the game so if you stumble and fall, chances are you'll find a place to watch the game.

But if you're looking something for more specific both Dos Caminos and SushiSamba are celebrating the day with football-inspired specials and NFL team-inspired drinks. There's no sign-up required, simply make a reservation. However, when we called Dos for a reservation at 2pm (an hour before the game) they told us they weren't taking reservations until 4pm. Then we went on OpenTable and scored one for 3pm. Go figure.

Also at Lavo, manly-man Tito Ortiz will cap off the Italian buffet (from 1:30pm to 7:30pm) by showing up to host and celebrate his bday at 11pm. Tix are $100 each.

Bellagio
The Bellagio is celebrating the game in big pimpin' style. Caramel, a small space of the casino floor, will open at 12pm and serve food specials and specialty drinks. There is no admission charge for guests without a table rezzie but there is a $1,000 minimum for folks who do sit down at a table.

At The Bank, girls will be decked out in their sexiest cheerleader outfit to win prize money in the Pro Cheerleaders event. The cocktail waitresses will get in on the fun by performing a half-time show. Also, real pro cheerleaders are expected to make an appearance.

Planet Hollywood
Planet Hollywood is having some raging Big Game party but it is sold-out for plebes like us. Cabo Wabo is hosting a Big Game Fiesta with UFC legend Wanderlei Silva starting at 2:45pm at $150 per person (Call 702-385-2226 to get your spot.)

The Hawaiian Tropic Zone party is sold-out but we did see an open reservation for 2:45pm on OpenTable. And we're really tempted to park it at the Halo Bar in Miracle Mile which will do delivery service from several restaurants on property along drink specials. Viewing party starts at 1pm. Call 702-405-4705 to make a rezzie.

Flamingo Las Vegas
Tailgate buffets will be happening at the Burger Joint and Sports Bar from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. much like Paris and Bally's but cheaper at $44 per person.

Wynn and Encore Las Vegas
Blush is hosting a big game party starting at 2pm for $100 a person for open bar. Tables range from $500 to $5,000. Call 702-770-3353 to get in.

Society Cafe is also hosting a viewing party with their limited flat-screen TVs. The menu is $75 per person and what the place lacks in flatscreens should be made up with the food here.

Tropicana
Legit football legend and Heisman Trophy winner Paul Hornung will be signing free autographs in the Tropicana Las Vegas’s Celebration Lounge between 12 and 2 p.m. on Sunday. But otherwise, there isn't anything really special beyond watching the action on flat-screens throughout the casino.

Mandarin Oriental
A wet t-shirt will be held throughout the game in the swank Mandarin Bar. KIDDING!
