1. Meet a driver:
These guys will be giving autographs around the city all weekend. We recommend going for Busch Friday night. Not only for the cheap joke but the fact we’re proud to say these brothers are Las Vegas natives. Kurt will be at Bally’s 8:15-9:15pm while last year’s Shelby 427 winner Kyle will be at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino 8:30-9:30pm. Or you can check the full appearance list for your personal favorite driver.
Don’t: Forget to put some money down on your favorite driver. NASCAR race and prop bets will be second only to Super Bowl betting this month and a shot at winning some cash will kickstart the tailgate trashtalking come race day. Feel free to check out our favorite sports books.
2. Party with other race fans:
NASCAR weekend is different than swinging into Vegas for a bachelor party. Everyone is here for the fast cars and soaking in the atmosphere with fans from all over the world is part of the experience. Try the NASCAR Cafe at the Sahara where fans will be partying all weekend and you can challenge your list loving party crasher to finish a two foot, six pound burrito. Trust us, he’ll never invite himself to Vegas again. Hanging out downtown? Race Jam 2010 at Fremont Street will have free entertainment, including headliner Foghat.
Don’t: Try to save money by stocking up on the $1 hot dogs you’ll see advertised at the Sahara. Instead, bring your race tickets to get food and drink discounts at the Cafe.
3. Get a Neon Garage Pass:
This one will set you back some cash ($69-$179 depending on the day you choose) but it’s worth it. Arrive at the track early, get the tailgating out of the way, and then hit “NASCAR Disneyland”. Vegas-sized entertainment, live music, and a chance to get up-close to drivers and race crew will get your motor runnin’.
Don’t: Find and follow Miss Sprint Cup for three hours. It will seem like a good idea but you will just end up with a restraining order. If you do get a phone number though, pass it along – ‘cause we have…ummm…race questions.
