Red Rock is No Longer a Pet-Friendly Resort, But The Westin Still Is

A hotel room, a dog and a "chew-gar".

Casinos aren't the best places for animals. For one, the hotel rooms are often miles away from the entrance/exits so that taking Fido out to pee is a lot harder than just flinging your back door open and letting him race out to go wee-wee in the grass. Second, there aren't many places for your pet to run around, meaning he'll probably be cooped up in the hotel room while you go out drinking and gambling.

So that's pretty much why Vegas is not an ideal place to bring your pets. But if you must, there are some hotels that allow them and according to this gaming site, GR88.com (Great Eight), The Westin Casuarina and the Red Rock Resort do it the best.

The Westin takes pets up to 40 lbs and any larger pets will have to get prior approval. (Not so sure your chimp or pet pig will be considered.) Guests will have to pay a $150 refundable deposit charge and a $35 non-refundable cleaning fee. Pets will be provided with a pet bed and food bowl and mat, as well as an official Westin "Dog in Room" sign. No word if they have a special sign for cats or birds.

But there's a slight problem with the Red Rock. Previously, dogs weighing less than 30 pounds were allowed to stay in the room with you so long as you paid a $100 non-refundable deposit fee. However, the Red Rock is no longer a pet-friendly resort.

Oops, looks like the Westin it is (and that GR88.com has to do an update.) Anyways, the Westin is closer to the Strip than Red Rock. So you'll have more places to gamble while Fido chews his way around the room. Although technically, you're not supposed to leave pets in the room unattended but c'mon, this is Vegas.

Know of some pet-friendly places to stay in or around Las Vegas? Let us know where!

Trump

Trump Tower is pet-friendly!

Ooo really?

That's a really good one then, because the rooms are big and there's no casino to walk through either. Hopefully, Fido can sleep through the trains going by! Thanks for submitting that!

Julia: he is a beautiful dog. i think he liked you, even tho the French and Brits usually don't get along. :)
