Let the Whispering Commence: The Rumor Rooms Are Open

We’ve shown you the outside – now it’s time to peek inside the Rumor Resort. We weren’t sure what to expect from the rooms – they reminded us of a Greek island from the outside, but we didn’t know if they’d go Vegas or Mykonos for the interiors.

And actually, they’re kind of European boutique crossed with a purple color scheme worthy of a Hard Rock or a Planet Hollywood. Interesting.

We looked around a couple of the suites, and liked what we saw. Flat screen TVs, stripy showers, delicious (eucalyptus) toiletries, mirror-flanked tubs in the king suites and nice design touches. They’re not huge rooms, by Vegas standards, but they include everything you need. And nothing crazy, but then, this is a boutique hotel in Vegas. You've got to take these things in stages.

The only thing is that they were a little dark, thanks to the silver walls and dark carpet, but once you get the lights on, that shouldn’t be a problem (the walls are actually lighter than they look in these pics because they're shiny). Also, you really want to get a room that looks out onto the garden. Staring at Harmon and the douchebags vomiting outside the Hard Rock is not our idea of a relaxing retreat. Also (for those of a neurotic bent), it's valet only, and there's no shuttle to the Strip - you'll have to blag it at the Hard Rock.

Of course, we can’t give a proper opinion because the hotel was empty when we went round, so we’ve no way of checking on soundproofing/water pressure/vibe, but from the shell, we’re thinking there’s a lot of potential here. jgbpdx thinks there’s something not quite right about it already, but we’re thinking this could be a step in a direction that Vegas could really do with. But, of course, it all depends on the vibe.

The hotel is fully booked for this weekend, but there’s availability moving forward. Rates are very reasonable – from $79 midweek, $159 weekends – and don’t forget, they’re doing a buy one get one free offer at the moment. Plus there's no dreaded resort fee, so you aint got much to lose.

More angst now!

Thanks for the shout-out in the piece!  Now that I've seen the pictures I feel even more dubious.  Like I said before I like the concept of a boutique hotel in LV, but dresing up a [still] tired looking property isn't my idea of one.

Now, having seen the rooms I know I would not stay there.  It just seems so much window dressing.  The whole complex, and the view out the window, reminds me of a 80's vintage apartment complex.

too much angst!

my main issue was that the rooms were quite dark, but i really don't mind the resculpting an old property thing. Floor to ceiling windows everywhere would be nice, but i think there's something cute about this place. and looking out onto the lawn rather than 30 storeys down at the pool below - i love that idea. it's how i think of LA in the 60s and palm springs and all that.

not very vegassy, no, but for a quiet autumn break a deux, i really think this could work.

i'll take all of that back if the soundproofing is no good, though.
