CEO John Unwin flicked the switch from a room in the hotel, and then nipped over to the marquee itself to climb up through it, out on the top, and wave to the little people below.
That took him half an hour, which should give you an idea of how big the place is.
The marquee is 65ft high and is, apparently, the only marquee to have video on all four sides. So far it’s running pictures of clouds, Cosmo rooms and mock ups on a loop of about two minutes (although on their Flickr page they say it’s 12 – perhaps we missed some subtle differences). Either way, very lovely it looks too.
They also ran Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace yesterday – we’re not sure whether that will be a permanent thing, or a one off shameless bid to attract the hippie market. Time will tell.
