Where'd You Rather Stay for NYE: Planet Hollywood or Mandarin Oriental?

Is it too early to start a New Year's Eve countdown? Of course not! We started four months ago! After checking on hotel rates for the New Year's Eve weekend back in June, it's time to see how things stand just two months out.

As you can imagine, you're getting a lot less bang for your buck. After checking out our uber booking engine at hotelrates.hotelchatter.com, we found that room prices are up anywhere from $100 to $200 bucks a night and, not surprisingly, some hotels are registering as sold out.

At $295 back in June, Palazzo is now at $493 a night. Encore was at $449 and is now showing as sold out. (Wynn, too.) Where Golden Nugget was once $199, it's now at $214. (Not bad!) Caesars Palace is also showing a minimal change of just a few bucks by going from $434 to $458 per night.

The most surprising find we made is that Planet Hollywood is running at more dolla, dolla bills, y'all than the Mandarin Oriental! PH is at $536 and Mandarin is at $525 a night. Even Bellagio ($579) and Four Seasons ($529) are higher than Mandarin.

On the more "budget" end of the spectrum, you can still find rooms under $200 a night at Rumor ($198), Circus Circus ($181) and the Plaza ($131) downtown.

*Hotel rates are for a December 30-January 1 stay. As always, rates are subject to change.
