We were encouraged to sit down and take Aladdin for a test drive (literally) when we took a second pass through the WMS booth and were blown away. The sharp-looking graphics are one thing, but that didn't seem very special. It was the chair. Seriously. The bonus round triggered a magic carpet ride that also triggered our chair to move along with the ride. Technically, the chair is a Sensory Immersion 2.0 Motion Chair which is powered by CPU-NXT3.
We've become used to speakers embedded in the chairs of the newer slot machines which is cool, but the motion chair in Aladdin is a first. We've never been taken to a bonus round where we're literally moved around curves and were shaken by the chair. We walked away surprised and a little in awe of what we had just experienced. While the experience was amazing and will be fun when the game hits casinos in May of 2012, this is not something we should do after a few drinks.
We don't want all slot machines to be fitted with these sensory immersion chairs, but Aladdin was great and something we can see ourselves needing to play just for the bonus round. This new technology gave us the first impression that it has the ability to change slots similarly to the way the original Wheel of Fortune make us play the game just to get a spin. We can easily see people dropping dollars just to get a ride. In the long term, Aladdin may not be the game that makes us not want to leave, but it's a first step as well as the only machine we saw at G2E with this technology. Needless to say this is the game that wowed us the most at G2E and we can't wait for it to hit casino floors in Vegas next spring.
