First, You Had Us At 'Pie Bar'

Until recently we never thought that Thanksgiving in Vegas could be cool since it's a family first holiday, but when we thought about it some more we realized that Thanksgiving at a casino could be just like the holiday tradition we grew up with, only better.

Growing up we'd do nothing more than watch football, eat too much and watch more football. Now we realize we can have the same thing only having the games on TVs as big as the house we grew up in and food prepared by someone that could actually cook (sorry, mom).

When we were considering moving to Las Vegas we met Julia B at First Food & Bar, in between Venetian and Palazzo, for drinks and snacks. That day will forever be etched in our minds as a special day and First Food (and their sangria) will always be a part of that memory. We've visited First a couple of times since and find it to be one of the better bar-restaurants on The Strip and one that many don't know about since it's kind of hidden in the shops.

Our minds went into overdrive when we saw the awesome Thanksgiving Feast planned by First Food and Bar. Their Thanksgiving Extravaganza lasts two hours and is $39 for a full meal. Seating times are 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 p.m. The special Thanksgiving menu features the following foods:

Hot mulled apple cider
Roasted Pumpkin Corn Bisque
Choice of salad - Roasted beet with frisee, goat cheese and horseradish orange or Autumn salad endive with blue cheese balsamico or Roasted garlic Caesar with butternut squash ravioli croutons
Pilgrim dinner served family style
o Traditional turkey with giblet gravy
o Mashed potatoes
o Whipped sweet potatoes
o Green bean almondine
o House made cranberry sauce
o FIRST stuffing
o Alternative choices of prime rib or roasted salmon
And for dessert there is a Pie Bar featuring pumpkin, apple and pecan pies, along with chocolate chip cookies and whip cream cr�me anglaise

First recommends making reservations as soon as possible as seating is limited and all seating sold out prior to the holiday last year. Call 702-607-3478 to lock yours in. When it comes down to when to eat, we would probably opt for the 3 p.m. seating so we can watch all three football games. After our feast, we'll head over to Lagasse Stadium,�and not the new Venetian sportsbook, for the late game since they have couches. Ahhh�just like home.
