Earlier this summer, we were wishing out loud that we had the smarts to develop a hotel housekeeping app. The Garden of the Gods must have been listening because now it is so. As part of the experience included in the cost of the new Octavius Tower rooms at Caesars Palace, guests will have access to the Octavius App that offers a direct line into resort services and experiences. Technically, it's not an app but a web application site accessible from any device, mobile or otherwise, at OctaviusApp.com.

You might be asking yourself is that just a rebrand of other Caesars apps that list restaurant hours and concert info? While you might be right in thinking that, you'd be wrong just as we were as there is much more. Make no mistake, the nightclub, restaurant, and business center details are all there. As are boarding pass printing and special tournament listings.

So what's the frosting on this cake? While anyone can view the app from any location (go ahead, try it), only Octavius Tower guests can access the available services as a valid room login is required. Once logged in, guests can request housekeeping on their way out for the day. A novel idea if do say so ourselves..

Just need extra towels? There's a button for that to avoid chasing down the housekeeping cart in the hallway. Drunk on a brain freeze and working to convince the bartender she can "crash" in your room? Pull up the Octavius App to prove you're a VIP gentleman by ordering a rollaway bed on the spot. Still striking out at the bar at 4 a.m. and need a wake up call in two hours? That can be ordered at the touch of a finger.

Call the bellhop to leave your luggage in storage and avoid the line. Order a toothbrush, razor, or hair dryer: there are specific buttons for each. Check out of the room. It's all available through your nearest internet connection.

Is the Octavious app revolutionary? It's not quite the same league as Siri, but it's a nice improvement on grabbing a phone or needing to stop by a concierge desk, especially when you're busy out doing Vegas. Perhaps, one day, the app will notify us when our room is clean and we'll recall the olden days you had to guess housekeeping's schedule.

What features would you like to see included? Would you use this app during your Vegas trip? Is it enough to temp you to stay in the Octavius Tower over another Caesars room? Let us know!

Housekeeping schedule

Actually, that's what all hotels should let you know! Like when you checkin, they could say, "Our housekeeping service is from 8 to 10am daily. If you do not want your room to be serviced, please hang the Do Not Disturb sign on your door." etc. etc.

PS. Ordering a roll away bed is the new "I'll sleep on the floor, I promise."?

Awesome

This is great. Is it available for non-iphone people? They exist, I'm told.

Non iPhone users

Yep it's not a native app but a web app.  So you just need any old device with a web browser.  Go ahead and click on the link above right now.  Do it.  I double dog dare you.

Rollaway bed

It is now! Thanks to technology.

No really, there's a rollaway. See?
