A Vegas Ticket We Haven't Seen Before

December 7, 2011 at 3:03 PM | by | Comments (9)

Probably the last place we expected to see technology improvements at a casino is at the valet, but on a recent trip to Caesars Palace we came across something new when we dropped our car off. Instead on being handed a perforated ticket for our car, we were handed a plastic playing card.

OK, cool. So what's the big deal with this? We can tell of two ways this helps us - speed and strength.  This electronic card speeds up the process since the valet does not have to write our information down on paper. On pickup, we no longer have to fumble for the little ticket stub when we get the car. Of course, since these cards are recycled and better for the environment, it may also save the casino a few dollars in the future.

The only other plus we noticed is that the paper card we're used to getting wouldn't be ripping in our pocket anymore while we were having fun inside. Between mobile phone, wallet, money, players cards and gum, our pockets are fairly active. We often fear the paper card will rip and/or fall put of our pocket. The last thing we want when we valet our car is to have an issue picking it up when we want to leave.

There is pretty much no way we'll lose this card and since everything is electronic (bar codes and such) there is almost no way the valet will lose our car. The only place we've seen this, so far, is at Caesars Palace and we hope this speeds up our escape from the casino at the end of the night and begins to make its way around Vegas as it becomes a proven way to expedite time spent in a valet and we like that!

Sooo...

How is the card linked to your car exactly? Is your license scanned or something? Or is the number on the card the number of the parking spot your car will be placed in?

I think...

It's the linked to the # on the card

link

It's linked up when you pick up the tag. Tag is electronically associated with your reservation at the hotel and license plate of the car.

bullcrap

those are just as easy to lose as tickets. believe me, i have lost them both in equal measures

@juliab

I believe you could lose both equally. :)

@eastcoastgamblr

to be fair, i have never irretrievably lost a caesars card, and i have irretrievably lost a couple of paper ones at paris (twice) and one somewhere else. so maybe caesars has it right after all

@juliab

Maybe. We'll see if this expands elsewhere. It works for me. :)

Not Normal

Were you guys super nice? Good tippers? Or did you tell them you were just gonna be in for a few minutes?

They still use regular tickets for 99% of the valet customers.

The hard cards are used for the "VIP" parking spaces right out front. Other properties will give you a standard hotel ticket and write HOLD on the one that goes in the car, meaning the valet doesn't park it down in the garage. They leave it in a show-y place up close.

@usctrojan

I was there for Absinthe and didn't even show them my diamond card. I'm pretty sure my car was in the garage as I watched them drive it out from the garage.

I rarely valet @ Caesars, but I was feeling lazy and didn't want to walk from self park through the casino to Absinthe since it's right in front. My last valet (couple weeks ago) @ Caesars I was given the same card, but I did show my diamond card. I always tip a couple bucks both ways when using valet, nothing major and not before they hand me the ticket (my money doesn't leave my pocket that quickly.:))
