Would You Buy Your Vegas Vacation on Overstock.com?

April 29, 2011 at 6:55 PM | by | Comments (3)

Websites that sell Vegas vacations are a dime a dozen but one that has gotten our attention is Overstock.com, the online shopping mall where you can buy leftovers everything from garden tools to engagement rings and kiddie toys.

BudgetTravel reports that the website has been selling vacation packages at "30 to 40 percent off." It actually looks and works much like another flash travel sale site, Jetsetter.com with select hotels in different cities on sale for a limited time. Fortunately, Overstock isn't selling leftover hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn or Excalibur.

BT's Sean O'Neill noticed The Four Seasons going for $446 for a two-day stay for two adults and two children. When he searched on Orbitz, that same stay available for $768. Total steal.

Sadly when we headed over there today, the package was already sold-out. But since Overstock Vacations is still in beta, we bet more and more Vegas vacations will come up. Just remember, to get these deals you have to sign up for them, which you can do here.

BTW: Here's our full review of The Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay including a video room tour.

Overstock Vacations Mandalay?

I know nothing about overstock.com but it seems all they are really offering is a room at a top tier hotel at Mandalay Bay, the Four Seasons rather than a mid-tier hotel known confusingly and annoyingly as THEhotel or a lower-tier hotel room simply at Mandalay Bay.
I would assume the quoted rates for the lower-tier rooms are purely nominal since the room would be comped for most gamblers, whereas a higher level of play would be needed at TheHotel but the room at the Four Seasons would not be comped since it was wholesaled out to Overstock.
The people staying in these rooms may use different elevators and have different sized rooms but they use the exact same roulette wheels, dice and cards.
They probably use the same pools and restaurants too.

So doesn't this all boil down to a rather expensive private elevator ride and a few extra inches on the TV screen?

overstock.com

I've purchased a few items from overstock and never had a problem. I have an awesome golf club travel bag that sits in my closet that cost $20 (comparable items were $100+). I rarely go there, but they are pretty legit from what I know.

Vegas Vacations

Over the years we have booked rooms through hotel websites, airline vacation packages and orbitz but the very best deal we have seen is through the CostCo member website. We just became members and were grumping that we have not had much use of our membership, then we started getting the Costco Travel emails. The best deals were on the nicest hotels in LV like Wynn/Encore.Can't wait to try it out!
