MGM Grand's Bungalow Suite Fugly, But Functional

A few weeks ago we received an email offer from MGM Grand that was a little different than most, so we called their marketing/VIP services to see if it was legit. In fact, our offer was for a night in a suite! We've received offers to stay at MGM Grand for free or cheap, but never a stay in a suite. Maybe Mlife is trying to tease us so they can upsell us in the future. After all, the offer was for one of four nights in the next three months. With limited availability we took the night available to us the soonest. We didn't want the chance to slip away.

We loved the Bungalow Suite and our stay at MGM Grand. We haven't stayed at MGM Grand since our very first visit to Vegas. The casino is just so big that it's hard to remember what is where at times. The updates to the casino make sense and are very modern. Unfortunately, the suite is far from that. We love having a large room, but we don't love having rooms that look as if they haven't been updated since 1984.

Our Bungalow Suite was more of a junior suite than an actual suite with separate bedroom and living areas. We were told this going in, so we knew what to expect. The room was rather large and separated the living and sleeping area with a giant TV peek-a-boo stand. This includes the giant tube TV with fuzzy picture and obviously no HD signal. We planned on spending time in the room working so we weren't stoked by this. Another unpretty thing were the tacky gold fixtures in the bathroom.

While the room wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing (check out the video tour below), it was entirely functional. We prefer modern looks to our room, but we also like the room to be clean and usable. Our room did the trick and would really be good if you're traveling with a group of people that just need space. The Bungalow Suites are priced slightly above the regular rooms at MGM Grand, so if you enjoy the space and don't care about the TV this should do you fine. We'd love this suite again as a comp in the future, but we're not sure that it was special enough to fork over the cash for. Enjoy the tour.

Wow

And, not in a good way. A comp is fine, but I would be extremely upset if I paid for that. Yuck!

@Becca

I think I might rather pay $130/night for big space and ugly room than $200/night @ Venetian/Palazzo for similar sized rooms with some more fancy amenities if I was staying for a longer trip. That $70/day couldgo a long way.

What is that tv center supposed to look like?

It kind of looks like a big trunk with a square hole in it. Pretty heavy and ugly.
The Grand tower rooms are much smaller but nicer.

@girlygirl

That's a good description of that TV center...It was the most strange thing I've seen. Definitely ugly. Haha.
