A Million Bucks Could Lead To The Ultimate Poker Bragging Rights

The WSOP is adding another special event for next year's World Series of Poker with a $1 million buy-in tournament. The tournament is, thankfully, a charitable event and open to anyone with the money to play. The BIG ONE for ONE DROP (™) tournament will benefit ONE DROP, a non-governmental organization aiming to fight poverty worldwide by supporting access to water and raising each and everyone’s awareness of water-related issues.

The tournament takes place July 1, 2012 and should last three days. There is room for you if you happen to have an extra million laying around as the event intends to take a maximum of 48 players. Anyone age 21 or older is eligible as long as they have the $1 million entry fee.

If you're actually interested in playing payment of your $1 million is expected 14 days prior to the event. 11.1% of the tournament buy-in intends to be donated to ONE DROP, with $889,889 going towards the prize pool. That's a hefty donation and even more of a hefty prize.

Some of the rich and famous playing include Phil Ruffin, the owner of Treasure Island and poker professionals Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan, Tom Dwan and Tony Guoga.

It will be interesting to see which celebrities buy in for the good cause and to get some TV time since this will be aired on ESPN. This $1 million tournament is on top of the other fun match-ups we shared earlier this week.
