Station Casinos Playing The Role of Cantor Gaming

Over the past year, Cantor Gaming has been adding sportsbooks to their roster so often we've stopped keeping track. Note, they are now managing the sportsbooks at both the Venetian and Palazzo in addition to providing their mobile gaming. This week, Station Casinos jumped into the role of sportsbook aggregator by taking over management of the El Cortez sportsbook.
This is Station Casinos first step into managing the sportsbook of a non-owned property. After a little legal mumbo jumbo expect that this partnership sill begin sometime in August.
Since Club Cortez doesn't currently give points for sports betting we'd expect that to change shortly after takeover. It's not clear wether the points will go towards your Boarding Pass comps or, more likely, Club Cortez. Of course, this opens Club Cortez in easy changeover to complete Station Casinos management in the future - but that's purely speculation.
While speculating we wonder if this is the first step for Station Casinos to get aggressive with other locals casinos and/or more downtown properties. There is no information on the Plaza players club on their website yet, but it's opening shortly so we'll learn soon enough. The Golden Nugget sportsbook is probably the most famous sportsbook downtown and that would be a feather in the cap for Station Casinos if this is a way they're looking to grow their business.
Consolidation is usually never good for the customer, so we're not really looking forward to more consolidation, but it's interesting to see a new player in the sportsbook management game. Maybe that's a good thing.
