The One Where It Was All About Steak, Wine and Boobs

Last week we had an awesome night planned at Planet Hollywood -- steak, wine and boobs. There is no way that dinner at one of our favorite modern New York steakhouses, Striphouse, followed by a night with Holly Madison in Peepshow could be bad. Or, could it?

We grew up leaning old school when going to a steakhouse -- we wanted men serving us cow that look like they just came back from the farm and we wanted an atmosphere that matched. Striphouse in New York was one of the first modern steakhouses we've visited. Striphouse is know for it's modern, yet retro, decor and pictures of naked women on the walls. The Striphouse in New York was one of our favorite steakhouses so we've wanted to try the Las Vegas location since it opened.

The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant was dead -- there were 3 couples dining around 7 p.m. Unlike the New York location, there was no DJ playing music. At least we didn't notice a DJ. But, with so few people dining, there probably wasn't a need for a DJ. The New York location is always crowded so it makes sense for them.

Our waitress recommended a bottle of wine, which was the opposite of what we wanted. This is why all fine dining restaurants should employ a sommelier. We always get the same steak when we visit a steakhouse for the first time and the New York Strip was a little undercooked from the medium we ordered. While some may find this bad, it was this night that we realized we like our steak medium rare. The steak was excellent as was our salad and whipped potato puree.

While the menu was different from New York and the wine wasn't very good, the food was almost as good as we remember and we were happy for that.

After stretching our legs for a little while we headed next door to the Chi Showroom to catch Peepshow. First thing we noticed is that the crowd was about 80% women. Nothing wrong with that. We also noticed the women were all dressed nicely, while most of the guys were looked as if they just rolled in from a day on The Strip.

There has been much said about Peepshow, but we've never really paid much attention to the details so we went into the show mostly blind. We knew that we were in for singing, dancing and boobs and didn't really need much more that that. This was this VegasChatter member's first Vegas production show and we were stoked!

Looking back we realize that, while Holly Madison is the star of the show, she doesn't really do much. Specifically, she did almost nothing in the first half of the show. Thankfully, the show leader had a ton of charisma and kept things moving nicely. I'm not sure if it was the steak or wine, but even the boobs couldn't help me from nodding off for a moment.

The highlight of the show was about halfway through when audience members were chosen to potentially be Holly's mate. The guy that won was an obvious plant, but his energy and role were great. From there, we were brought back to life and enjoyed the ladies screaming as much as the show itself.

Peepshow was pretty much what we expected as it wasn't a work of art, but it was kind of fun. The "highlight" of the show was the girl that seemed like an understudy and was off balance and missed steps all night. I don't think anyone goes into Las Vegas adult shows expecting any kind of brilliance and we got a show that was in line with our expectations. Not amazing, not awful and boobiliscious. We won our tickets at a tweetup for Absinthe a few weeks back and Peepshow was definitely worth the price of admission!
