What's Your Never, Ever Again Vegas Hotel?

August 3, 2011 at 6:22 PM | by | Comments (9)

Last week, we were inspired by a Flamingo survey to look at our favorite hotels by category. That led to lots of comments giving us thought for future stays. There were so many positive thoughts about Hooters that we're gonna have to hustle to book a room so we can see for ourselves in case it closes. We may not be the curious class, but we're the curious type.

Although it wasn't a category we listed, a few people decided to go the extra mile and include hotels that they'll never stay in again:

We love this! When considering a restaurant, hotel or anything else we're looking to purchase we always take into account the positive and negative reviews. If we see a lot of positive, we'll immediately move that to the top of our consideration list while a lot of negative reviews will move that item to the bottom.

In Vegas, we've been lucky enough not to have a never, ever again hotel. We've been able to find cheap enough rates to not stay somewhere we wouldn't return. We're not perfect when it comes to hotels elsewhere, but in Vegas we consider ourselves lucky. You can ask us privately about the $300 roach-infested, blood-stained hotel room we "enjoyed" in Atlantic City.

In case you forgot, Imperial Palace (pictured at top) won our Worst Hotel award in 2010.

We know, VegasChatter member @girlygirl's current "Never Again" hotel, but what's yours? Leave us and the other readers a warning in the comments below!

never

Well, for me it's The Sahara because I will physically never, ever be able to stay there again. But, more realistically, probably the Monte Carlo. One of the blandest hotel stays of my life.

Fear and Lurving in Las Vegas.....

Agreed, Monte Carlo is truly bland'tastic.

But I don't think anywhere can match Imperial Palace for grimness...the room I stayed in made the one above look like a penthouse suite, no lurve tub (thoughtfully placed a few feet from the bed - yuk) or mirrored ceiling for me, just a view and smell of the bins, decor that was 'old school' in 1969, and tiny + dirty as standard.

nevermore

Based on places I have stayed, and will not again..(there are plenty I have not stayed at and will not)

it would have to be
Harrah's
Excalibur

Believe it or not...

...my never again in Vegas is the MGM Grand.  I've stayed three separate times and have been met with poor service, bad housekeeping, and messed up reservations/rates every time.

While I've never stayed, I have visited the Imperial Palace and would NEVER consider staying there.

Also, the Monte Carlo is very dull...

@jonwain200

I've always had perfectly average service @ MGM Grand. Never awesome, but never horrible.

I'm also with you re: IP. Too many very negative reviews of that place.

No more

I will not stay at the Monte Carlo again, it's so boring and dull.  I stayed there about a year ago and the bed was so uncomfortable and the whole room was bare minimum.  For $60-$70 average, I rather stay at the IP and get the same quality, better location & the Dealertainers!

@KevMy

Dealertainers creep me out. Haha.

Surprised to see Monte Carlo on here. I never hear anything good or bad about it.

The Downtowner

Always found this place convenient and inexpensive in the past when we did a last minute trip to Vegas without a room.  We would usually find somewhere to stay.  When it didn't happen, The Downtowner was a great stand by. It had the rooms right on the street, where you could park your car right next to your room.

Went one weekend and booked a room because all the other hotels where prohibitively expensive.  When we went to check in, they only had a "one bed" room in the new section.  They had this huge room with two beds and a large refrigerator and kitchen in the old building.  The guys at the counter said you need to go over and make sure you are ok with the room before I check you in. Its the spot in Casino movie where they show Ginger dying. It was the thick wood grain and dark green carpeting.   It was a real throw back.  Me and my buddy liked the room.  The place wasn't bad, accept it had this real nasty smell.  It was stale cigarettes, the place never gets aired out.  It would actually make me gag like I was going to throw up. I thought I would adapt to  the smell.   WRONG.  I get a nasty headache the next day.  I pleaded with the front desk to give us a room in the newer part of the hotel.  They had a one bed room available.  I told my buddy I would sleep on the floor, the only caviot  was it was freshly painted, so it was whole set of toxic odors.

Now I only stay at four star and above.  Sometimes three stars if the place has positive reviews.

We had a great time anyways

Hooters

Hooters / San Remo.
Worst place I've ever stayed at.
