So, Umm, What's Going On With The Trop?

Everything looked so promising, shiny and kinda new just about this time last year (heck, we even gave them an award), but now there's a whole lotta drama going on at The Trop.

The Mob Experience is just about sleeping with the fishes. Gladys Knights' midnight train is delayed and then cancelled unexpectedly. The much-hyped Italian resto Bacio slashed its days of operation. And, now comes news from the Las Vegas Sun that Nikki Beach/Club Nikki is kaput (as we know it or, rather, as they wanted us to know it) and that Trop "plans to run the show itself."

And, you know things are really, really bad when someone on TripAdvisor wishes they would have stayed at Luxor instead:

Stayed here last year and it was Fab. This year, a completely different story.

We arrived to our room....room 415, the bathroom floor was so filthy dirty that I took a wash cloth and cleaned it, because there was "NO" other room to move us too. We stayed midweek so you know they weren't sold out. While taking a shower, which there was no water pressure to speak of, the showerhead fell off the pipe, when I turned on the water.

Again this year, the soda machine was not working ... why because the hotel UNPLUGED it. Same thing as last year. You have to move the machine out to plug it in. I heard the hotel unplugged machines every other floor to save on Electricity.

CLUB NIKI was a JOKE. If you have the body perfect (of course my friend and I don't) they don't let you into the club. So while out at the big pool where all the normal people are, they have nice soft rock music playing. Once Club Niki opens, THUMP THUMP THUMP goes the club music right over the soft rock music. Ok, if you are going to put club music on, turn off the soft stuff. It was so annoying that we got up and left. Mind you, we go clubbing all the time, but really, in the middle of the day???

Over all I would say, RUN don't stay here. The Luxor was the same price and I am ticked off, that I didn't stay there!

So, what's going on at The Trop? Bad management? Bad luck? Business just bad? Weigh in on the comments below. For us, we're hoping that at least one thing at the Trop doesn't lose its glow.

Travesty

I was about to book the Trop for my visit next week. But now I'm really concerned about the saxophonist at Club Niki. Is he ok???

Stayed at the Trop

We stayed at the Trop once and found the staff to be rude as hell. One bartender yelled at a customer who requested a drink.
QUOTE: I'll get to you in a minute.
The safes don't work. No water pressure. Blankets haven't been cleaned in years. Need I go on?

Stay away folks.

Lipstick on a ......

Well cant say we didn't see this coming! Yes, everyone wanted this one to be the one. The refurbished one that worked and proved that a billion + is not needed to compete and an implosion is not the only way to make some noise in this town. BUT what were we thinking! Its still the Trop, I don't think there was enough lipstick on this blue ribbon fair winner to forget the decades of  neglect to the years of anonymity to the overall consensus of Bleh! Sorry Mob, Gladys, Nikki, Bacio and defunct wall projector thing- kinda fuzzy anyhow, you should of gone to NYNY or Downtown Mob, Nikki, St. Tropez to Trop? Bellagio or Caesar's ring a bell? Gladys - how about weekly duets with the eclectic bands at Cosmo, Bacio ( do we need more italian joints?) Ultimately your own fault for thinking your brands were big enough to even compete with the Trop scare-mories in all our heads. Dark times ahead for the Trop-Again

PS. - Sahara take not if you open again, rename, rebrand and don't be a hero ( or take out a billion loan from Deutsche bank ;))
