NBA Summer League Alive (Kinda)

September 7, 2011 at 4:11 PM | by | Comments (0)

With the NBA owners locking out players, the annual NBA summer league was cancelled. This saddened many of us that were looking forward to catching some NBA hoops up close. Have no fear! While the NBA lockout shows no end in sight, longtime trainer Joe Abunassar and some NBA players are getting together to hold the Impact Training Competitive Basketball Series beginning September 12, next week.

According to ESPN.com over 40 NBA players will make the trip to Vegas to join in the NBA-only league that will be comprised of six to eight teams with up to eight players each. The games will be shorter than actual NBA games, but this will give us a chance to see players like Blake Griffin, John Wall, Jared Dudley (who seems to be the ringleader in getting players together) and more.

Tickets will cost $20 and will be sold as a day pass. There should be about 500 available with proceeds going to charity. There will also be streams made available as well. The games will be played at 121 East Sunset Road at The Sport Center of Las Vegas. Keep an eye on Impact Basketball's twitter for more information.
