The Music Of The Night To End At Venetian

Umm. So... Venetian? Is there something, like, you want to tell us? Or, something we can do? We never know what to do in these circumstances. A gift? A comforting pat on the back? Just know we're here for you. If you want to talk, just drop us a line.

We're concerned because late last night Phantom of the Opera announced the end to our music of the night at Venetian. The curtain will drop for the last time on September 2 "after more than six years and 2,700 performances."

That's on top of the recent loss of the Jersey Boys (technically, from next door at Palazzo) to the Paris. And, the quickly approaching move of the Blue Man Group to Monte Carlo. (Check out the cool new video suits they're working on for their MC debut.)

So, Jersey Boys -- gone. Blue Man Group -- perhaps done at Venetian by the end of September as you can't buy tickets beyond that. And, now, Phantom -- out on September 2.

What are two mega resorts to do? Especially with such a customized theater as the one for Phantom? If you've got any ideas, we're sure the Venetian/Palazzo would appreciate your posting them up below. We just hope they don't resort to past behaviors when it comes to entertaining the masses.

And

Chaz Palminteri's amazing one man show A Bronx Tale is returning in March, but to the Mirage not the Venetian.

At this rate, the V should just name all their showrooms the David Spade theater.

Travesty!

But on the bright side at least we won't have to endure any more elevator rides with the creepy Phantom music. "Sing my angel, SING!"

from what i hear. .

Having previously worked for Jersey Boys, and still having friends in the entertainment departments, I can discreetly (lol) report that it seems the management (Adelson and the likes) has unfriended many production management members do to his strong political views and recent contributions to the GOP.  As frivolous as this may sound, think of the liberal supporters from broadway that these shows attract and employ.  I overheard some of them myself talk about their dislike for Sands management, and not their entertainment side, but more the corporate side.  This all could be just a coincidence though. Again, just from what I hear . . .

I'm going to miss...

Those Phantom themed elevator rides... slowly, gently...

"Sorry to see it go. The theatre and environment they made for the show were stunning. Glad I got to see this and The Lion King before the complete Cirque-ification of Vegas happens."

From Nikki M. on Facebook

"Hmmm? Wonder what they'll fill up the venues with now? Can't be all Rita all the time..."

From Roger P. on Facebook

"How sad! One less reason to visit Vegas..."
