What's Up With Our Identity?

January 24, 2012 at 6:33 PM | by | Comments (5)

When The Cosmopolitan opened, we noticed that the Identity section of the website had flaws beginning with database connection errors. Our online Identity registration (done before the casino opened) was a waste of time as we had to sign up again in person when we visited Cosmo. That wasn't much of a big deal since it was only a few minutes on each side of the registration. We also cut the Cosmo some slack since this was the opening of a new casino. We don't think that problem was ever solved, but we had our membership so we moved on.

When Cosmo ran its Identity Series last year we saw continued confusion some would receive an invite while others wouldn't. Each person we spoke with gave us different answers to the problem, but we just chalked it up to that same database problem. We enjoyed the Identity Series so we didn't think much of it.

This year -- and for the latter part of 2011 -- the Identity section of the Identity section of the Cosmopolitan website just hasn't worked. At all.

While this didn't bother many people at first it's finally starting to annoy VegasChatter readers on Facebook:

and on Twitter:

We reached out to both Cosmopolitan's PR team and their twitter team and received similar answers:

“Thank you for your inquiry. We are currently enhancing the online experience for Identity Members. In the meantime, if guests need any information about their accounts they are invited to call 702.698.7280 between the hours of 8 a.m. and midnight Monday through Thursday; and 8 a.m. and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.” — The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

We use websites to use our time more efficiently. If we wanted to speak to someone we would just do that. We're connected all the time so we want answers at all time. Digging deeper on The Cosmopolitan website we found that the Identity FAQ doesn't exist. Searching the sitemap just yielded a link that kicked us back to the Identity page. Ummm…thanks?

We have no idea if or when the problem with the Identity section of The Cosmopolitan website will be resolved. And, after the call we made at 10:14 a.m. today to the Identity number listed above ended in being sent to voicemail, we have little faith it will be up anytime soon.

Hmm

Seems like further development of the Identity website has been shelved until the casino operation actually makes money? Or perhaps they're re-doing Identity entirely.

Identity FAQ

I found this while digging around:

<a href="http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/join/aboutidentity.aspx">http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/join/aboutidentity.aspx</a>

Had no luck logging in either.

My Guess

There isn't a huge team of hedgehogs in a back room to fix the site and the focus of fixing the site is probably on the parts of the casino that make the money, which as we know isn't gambling.

Will keep you all posted on updates!

Just one of the many problems of this hotel

Identity is the least of their worries. Just about before they are going to announce losing a quarter billion dollars in 2011, they have quietly eliminating the positions of over 20 executive directors that put theIr blood sweat and tears into its development and opening.

They even went as far to remove the CFO and CSO. Of course, they had wonderful golden parachutes while the rest of the team only got 2-3 weeks severance. How's that for their so called culture of Community, Conscience, Compassion And Courageous. What a farce!  Thanks a lot John.

@Lvrebel

Hirings, firings, broken websites and balance sheets aside I always have a good time @ Cosmo.
