The NHL Awards Will Return to Vegas, But Not To The Palms

The NHL Awards will return to Las Vegas.

An extended partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will bring the awards back to Vegas for the next three years. The ceremonies first came to town in 2009. There is a change, though, to this year's show. The NHL goes for an upgrade moving from the Pearl Theater at Palms to Wynn. Specifically, the show will be held in the Encore Theater on Wednesday, June 20.

The NHL Awards leaving Palms marks the third major event leaving the hotel this year with the AVN Awards leaving for the Hard Rock and Playboy Comedy Club exiting to perform at Paris Las Vegas. While the move from Palms may be seen as jumping ship it's possible that the NHL has grown in popularity and ratings to the point where the awards show brings more value to the hotel and thus a higher price tag.

Just like in past years, the 2012 NHL Awards will honor the best regular-season hockey players in categories such as most valuable player (Hart Trophy), outstanding goaltender (Vezina Trophy), outstanding defenseman (Norris Trophy) and outstanding rookie (Calder Trophy).

The awards will be open to the public once again. Keep an eye on www.nhl.com/awards for ticket information and for videos from previous ceremonies.
