We've tried many of the steakhouses on The Strip in an effort to try them all. Unfortunately (and fortunately) for our quest, steakhouses have been opening and closing pretty regularly. After visiting two of the three steakhouses at the Palazzo, CUT and Carne Vino, we finally made it to the third -- Morels French Steakhouse.
We've never been too impressed with French steakhouses in the past so our expectations were tempered. Upon arriving at Morels and reviewing the menu at the door, a friend noticed that there were no mussels on the dinner menu. Evidently, mussels are a staple of a French steakhouse and this was a deal. This VegasChatter member doesn't eat water animals so that quickly became a non-issue.
After being seated in a high traffic area, our awesome waiter kindly moved us to a more secluded table in the back half of the restaurant where nobody else was seated. Ahhhh... space to stretch and/or be obnoxious. We started the meal off with a bottle of wine and some fine meats and cheeses from the charcuterie menu that were great and could have made a fantastic meal in their own right.

The original reason that brought us to Morels was a Palazzo elevator ad that advertised a $40 special. But, we couldn't remember what it was for. Our waiter informed us that the special included a NY strip steak ($50 on the menu), pesto mashed potatoes and dessert, which ended up being a trio of creme brulee. We would order the NY strip anyway, so we ordered the special. Our steak and potatoes were both very good while the creme brulee was fantastic. The French press coffee we added to the dessert was awesome. (And, that's saying something as we are snooty about our coffee.)

Overall, everything was really good and exceptional compared to our previous French steakhouse visits. The food was all very good and the service was exceptional. Morels fits in nicely with the Palazzo steakhouse mix. We could see ourselves visiting Morels in the future to sip on wine and snack on charcuterie on the patio before we can see ourselves eating a full meal. That's not to say the steak wasn't good, but the wine and charcuterie were probably the highlights. There are so many steak places on The Strip that we haven't tried, that we must continue our exploration.
